Battlestar Galactica’s executive producer Ronald D. Moore was recently signed into contract by FOX to write a pilot episode for their upcoming series Virtuality. It will be about 12 crew members who are assigned to man Earth’s first-ever starship. Another BG veteran, Michael Taylor, was asked to co-write with Moore.

Ronald D. Moore’s accomplishments include being a two-time Emmy Award-nominee. In 1988, he toured on the sets of Star Trek: The Next Generation and passed a script to one of Gene Roddenberry’s assistant. After seven months, the script reached the hands of executive producer Michael Piller and it was immediately bought. Not only was his script used for the third season, Moore was also offered to write another script and the rest is history. He wrote for shows like G vs. E, Rosswell, Carnivale and Touching Evil. Mission: Impossible II was also his brainchild.

Michael Taylor, on the other hand, is credited on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and The Dead Zone. In 2002, his episode entitled “Unreasonable Doubt” on The Dead Zone earned him a Nebula Award nomination from the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. Taylor was also the executive story editor for Star Trek: Voyager.

The new series, Virtuality, will be produced by Lloyd Braun and Gail Berman. Casino Royale director Martin Campbell will be leading the show’s cast and crew.

The Hollywood Reporter said that the show is set aboard a ship named the Pantheon. The Pantheon has been journeying for 10 years towards a solar system that the crew wants to explore. NASA equips the ship with hi-tech virtual modules so that the crew members can survive and enjoy their navigation. Everything seems fine until a bug is found in the complex system and suddenly, the lives of everyone are in danger.

The schedule for Virtuality’s airing will be announced soon.
